Dodgeball

Ben played in a Dodgeball tournament on Saturday. I've never laughed so hard in all my life. I went to his so-called "tournament" thinking, - that will make a great blog - I'll go and take a few pictures and come home. Well, we ended up staying through the entire thing. It was HILARIOUS!! Watching grown men throw balls at each other - and some getting quite serious into the "sport" - was a blast.

Remember this game from elementary school?

Dodgeball: a children’s game
that requires a large, soft rubber ball,
the size of a volleyball or beachball,
and several players.

Remember the rules?

Run like crazy and grab a ball off the center line.
Once you cross the red line, you can throw and be thrown at.
If you get hit, you're out.
If you catch a ball thrown at you - the person who threw it is out.
No head shots.

Okay, so I never saw the movie that came out - you know the one. I'm not into movies that I leave feeling like I just got hit with the "stupid stick." Now, I'm starting to wonder if I really missed out on a treasure.
So, a team of seven guys from Ben's department at work made up the "Purple Cobras". Only six players can actually play at a time - well, they had an alternate - just in case of an injury.
Hilarious.

Here are a few pictures of the action:

Their first game was against "Black Asphalt" - a team made up of Idaho State Troopers. They were all in pretty good shape - the "Purple Cobras" on the other hand. . .

put in a good effort and. . .

ended up WINNING!!

They made it clear to the championship game. It was "The Purple Cobras" against "Black Asphalt". In the end, their lucky streak came to an end. The troopers pulled their game together and ended up winning the title.

News Channel 6 was even there to "cover the action." Well, they didn't make the news, but they sure had fun. Relay for Life’s Second Annual Dodgeball Tournament helped raise money for the American Cancer Society.

Good job, boys. They helped raise 600 buckaroos!!

Here's a shot of the girls sporting Ben's cool wrist and head bands.

During the tournament, Cadence and Ashland were pretty good - considering. They got bored, but Ben bought them a cinnamon roll to share. I've never seen Cadence eat anything so fast in her life. You'd think I don't feed the girl. I saw the yummy treat and the next time I looked, I saw this:

She then talked her dad into getting another one. After taking his bite - and consuming half the roll, the girls polished off number two.

There's fun to be had here in Idaho.

It may not seem like the happenin' place, but oh it is!!

So funny. Kristian is going to love it when I tell him about it. He'd be down for something like that. I have seen the movie...hit by a "stupid stick" for sure, but I did laugh quite a bit. Kristian actually quotes that movie occasionally.

What a fun family day!

Oh my gosh. Would you please feed those starving girls? Granmas don't like to see their grandkids have to lick their plates--if you don't want to make cinnamon rolls, you can buy one or two at the bakery so they can get accustomed to the taste. Please feed your kids!!! Love ya.
