Halloween was an absolute BLAST this year! We kicked off our festivities on Saturday the 29th at our ward's Halloween Carnival. Sadly, I was in charge again this year. But I learned a lot after last year, and it went quite well.
Here's a picture of our little family at the carnival. . .
Four Beautiful Rapunzels and One Very Handsome Flynn Rider
On Sunday, we carved pumpkins. Here's the great thing about that. . . we actually grew our own pumpkins this year out at the "farm." We ended up with 25 pumpkins!!! They were beautiful too. I can't wait to start growing next years crop. It was like Christmas every time we went out and checked on things. We'd find a new pumpkin or four, and some of them had turned from green to orange. It was awesome! Here's a picture of our little family at the carnival. . .

Here's some of the crazy process. . . Berklee spent plenty of time eating the pumpkins and the seeds. The girls - we had the Bess kids over to carve because their daddy was out of town - spent forever picking out the seeds to roast. Mmmmm!!
And here are the masterpieces. . .
I love how Kia plopped herself down in the picture too!!

We've always had some dumb trunk-or-treat to go to. But this year, our ward's Halloween festivities were on Saturday and since I was in charge, there was no trunk-or-treat. . . which left Monday night open for proper trick-or-treating!! Ben and I always went as kids. I took a snack sized bag, walked two miles between houses and came home later with four tootsie rolls and a half stick of gum. Ben, on the other hand, took his pillowcase, walked two steps between houses and came home with more candy than a human should consume in a lifetime.

Back to our story. . .
We dressed our girls up in the warmest costumes we could find.
Cadence was a fortune teller. . .
Ashie - a unicorn. . .
and Berklee - a kitty.

Then we set out in our little subdivision. Who knew we had so many great neighbors? I met people I've never even seen in the six years we've lived here. It was awesome. We have a for sale sign in our yard right now, and after being out with the neighbors, I was starting to seriously think "maybe we shouldn't try to sell." It was fun to be out and socialize with the people we live near. They are great. I just wish we could see that side of people on a daily basis - and not just on a holiday.
Anyway, the girls had a blast! After each house, Ashland wanted me to look inside her bag to see how much candy she had NOW. By the last street, she gave me her bag and asked me if I would carry it. . . and then open it for her at the next house. . . and say "trick or treat" for her. She was exhausted!
Halloween 2011. . . check!
