We've been on the countdown for about six months now.
You know the one. . .
the time between when your child starts toddling and when they can go to nursery.
Well, this Sunday marks the official day of what we like to call - freedom. (at least until the next one comes along - and, no I'm not pregnant.)
Let me explain. . . Ben has spent the last six months wandering the hallway during Sunday School and Priesthood. Now, don't judge the man. He has his reasons - we just see things a little differently. See, I took Cadence to class during that stage, and I usually left church in tears. She would wander around and dig through people's bags, beg for food, it was pretty much constant embarrassment. I would leave church and barely get to my car before I would be bawling my eyes out. I felt judged - why? Not sure. I felt like I couldn't control this little princess. If I tried to get her to sit quietly, she would do very much the opposite. It may seem silly to feel judged by other mothers, but I certainly did. The "seasoned mothers" would just smile and tell me how precious she was. The mothers who had children around that age would give me the ol' look of "been there, done that". Ben has chosen not to fight that war. So, since I am in primary and can't keep Ashland, the job has been solely Benjamin's. Because he chooses not to fight that battle - he leaves church feeling cheated and completely drained of all energies. So, instead of having his spiritual cup filled at church - he, like most parents - leaves wanting.
So, all I have to say is. . .
Happy Half Birthday Sweet Ashland -
and NURSERY, HERE WE COME!!!!
Oh, and if you cry, you're staying.
Trust me - it's best for all of us.

She'll be just fine and teach the teachers a thing or two.
Yep...I remember those days...There was one time in RS when i let Leslie wander around up by the piano and usually by the sister was as far as I would let her go..one sunday she knocked down the music stand during the middle of Sister Bureu's lesson...one sister who will remain nameless shot me a look like "Can't you control your kid"...So i feel for ya! And i look forward to the day when i can send Sam into Nursery! Congrats!
Hooray! I hope Ben gets to enjoy a full session of church this week. Those are very long months to endure. Kristian used to leave and take the toddler for a drive to get them to sleep. With Lucas, he actually had to stay in nursery with him for months!...because I had a calling. One of our old wards adopted a parents sunday school for those who had kids of that age...they met in the hallway. No joke. Not a bad idea.
CONGRATULATIONS! Here is to leaving church with your cup half full!
I'm SO jealous!! We are at that "stage" right now with Lauryn (she's 12 1/2 months) and it's pretty impossible! Dan has a calling in YM and I have a calling in YW, so you can see the problem. Just imagine mutual night.....Dan, me, and 3 KIDS!!!! It's a nightmare!!!! I can't WAIT for nursery......what a beautiful thing!
