Liberty Walk 2009

There is a huge field next to our house called Liberty Field. Every 4th of July, it is completely covered with flags - 1776 flags to be exact. Half of the flags are American Flags and the other half are Titles of Liberty - which is really cool. (This just happened to fall on the same day that we read the story of Captain Moroni and the Title of Liberty in the scriptures with Cadence - love how that happens.) This year, we were a part of Liberty Walk - a parade/ceremony to display the flags. It takes place the weekend before the 4th and is a 2 1/2 mile walk from Taylor's Crossing to Liberty Field - we carried one American flag and one Title of Liberty.

Here we are all gathered getting ready to start the human flag-carrying parade.

While we waited, we snapped a few pics by the Snake River which is just on the other side of the field we were gathered in. It was a beautiful day.

It was so fun to walk down the highway and have everyone honking their horns and shouting. I'll be honest, it made me feel something -

PROUD to be an AMERICAN!!

When we got our flag, we were able to write the names of Veterans we knew. So, Grandpa Ralph and Grandpa Tom have their name proudly displayed on the flag we carried.

When we got to Liberty Field, we posted our flags.

This is definitely something we will be doing every year with our family.
