A few weeks back, two friends and I drove down to Utah for the sole purpose of
shopping at IKEA. We drove four hours - shopped at IKEA for five - stopped for some dinner - drove home. It was
AWESOME on so many different levels. First, the company was
great. Second, a whole day without kids was
divine. Thirdly, we all made some
exciting purchases. (Just between you and I, we spent over
a thousand dollars combined. In my world, that's a ton of MONEY!!) It's so fun to have friends who have money to spend. I spent twenty dollars over my
$60 limit and my husband was "
disappointed in me." (It wasn't pretty.) We bought so much stuff that we had to have
four IKEA employees help us load the van. We filled that thing to the
BRIM. At one point, we were going to drive home with the back door tied down with
twine - through a rain storm. But we were blessed with inspiration and got it to fit. I wish I had taken a picture. It was truly
inspiring.
Here are my purchases installed:

These two night lights for the girls room are absolutely adorable in my opinion. I love them. The green cords attached to the wall in the shape of the stem and leaves - so cute. I really like how they turned out. Although, Cadence refuses to turn on the white one. She likes pink - not white.

Here's my next project. I decided to create an area where I can display Cadence's artwork without just taping it to the wall or attaching it to the fridge. Here's what I came up with. They are magnetic-type towel racks. It's on the wall in our kitchen. I think it turned out very well. Three cheers for IKEA!!!

I really like the rods for Cadences art! I need to find something to hang up Spencers little masterpieces too!
In answer to your two questions, the collages I put together on Picasa! If you hold the pictures in the tray and then hit the collage button it works like a charm! I like it cause I have SO many pictures but I don't want each post to be forever long!
As for the clipart I LOVE sugardoodle.net! They have a clipart section and it is awesome for FHE because they have all the images from past and present Friend magazines! ( I have a couple clipart links on the blog!!)
Talk to you later!
i love, love, love IKEA!! totally worth a 4 hour rive! and to go through it without children... my goodness I can't even dream of such a thing! I am so glad you got such an opportunity! And I love the magnetic display racks! Talk about inspiring!
BROOKE! I heart ikea. For real, I can't get enough of that place. Let's just say it's a good thing they built it AFTER we moved...yeah. I'm glad you had fun. Hey WE should go sometime!!!
very very cute! I love the towell rack idea - I will have to remember that.
How bright are the flower nightlights? I have a a lamp with like a 15 wattage bulb, but I am wishing for something more muted still.
dont' even get me started on Ikea. When troy and I first interviewed in So. California, our hotel was next to IKEA. It was the first time either of us had ever been there. We went there 3 nights in a row and stayed for 3-4 hours every time! I can still spend 2 hours there...no problem! Well worth the drive!
